Art For The Grange

Art For the Grange is a programme by the Welsh public art commissioning agency, Studio Response. It aims to enhance the emotional well-being of patients, visitors, staff at The Grange University Hospital through art commissions installed around the new space.

The project started off as a website, but the team wanted to have a physical legacy of the programme that existed as tangible proof of its success. The brief was to create a publication (gallery catalogue in style) that would commemorate and celebrate the programme. They asked for it to be the highest quality possible (within budget) but most importantly to feel special, and an item of value.

In order for the publication to feel distinctive, I went about creating a tactile object; the cover is GF Smith Colorplan (forest) with gold foil, the opening and closing pages are GF Smith Transclear paper with a white ink motif and the single leaf inner pages alternate between uncoated and gloss high-quality stock — with text on the former, and images on the latter.
